Our sleeping pads are made using a polyester material. The thicker the fabric, the higher the denier. Most of our pads have either a standard 75 Denier fabric or a 30 Denier fabric. Both are equally durable. The lower denier is used in some of our ultralight pads to help decrease the overall weight.
Any Klymit pads purchased from Klymit.com are returnable within 21 days of purchase. Please use this link to begin the return request: Warranty Request

Our Static V sleeping pads have a V-shaped design in the air chambers, so the name is pronounced Static Vee (not Static Five).
While any inflatable pad will make some slight noise during movement, with Klymit pads there is no need to worry about sounding like you are using a potato chip bag as a sleeping mat. Klymit pads will allow you to sleep outside silently and will preserve your friendships with others while on group camping trips.
To Inflate: flip the rotating valve to show the side that says ‘inflate’ and inflate by mouth or Rapid Air Pump. To Deflate: turn the rotating valve slightly to allow the air to escape; once most of the air is out, finish turning the valve so it is now showing the ‘deflate’ side and continue to roll up your pad.
Each sleeping pad has suggested breaths for inflation (i.e., the Static V is 10-15 breaths). The inflation pressure of your pad is a personal preference, so we recommend that you experiment with different pressure levels to find your ideal. It is important to not over-inflate the pad though as this may cause issues down the road!
R-Value is a measurement of air flow through an object. The higher the R-Value, the more insulation that object will provide. For example, many houses have foam insulation in the walls with an R-Value of 6 (per inch of insulation). Our pads range from an R-Value of 1 to 6.5
There are many factors when keeping warm. The Sleeping bag rating, the clothes you are wearing, the temperature of the ground, among others, all factor in to how warm you feel. Our insulated pads are the warmest we make (R-Value 4.4-6.5) and are designed to keep you warmer than un-insulated pads. A sleeping pad’s R-Value measures its ability to insulate you from the cold ground and keep you warm. The higher the R-Value, the more effective it is. We recommend making sure you have a sleeping bag rated to the temperature you are sleeping in to make sure you will be warm enough!
Check out our awesome videos from the pros in our warehouse! The basic idea is to lay the pad flat first and help guide the air out towards the valve. Then, when most of the air is out, you can fold the pad and begin rolling, starting from the foot area and working towards the head/valve area.
Pads perform best when cleaned regularly. For particularly dirty pads mix 2 cups of warm water with 1 tablespoon of baking soda and wipe down with a washcloth. Rinse well. DO NOT use any detergents, even natural detergents. DO NOT put in a washing machine.
Because breath is warm, when you inflate your pad, you will have full inflation at first. But after the air inside the pad cools to room temperature, it will condense and it may appear that the pad is deflating. We recommend inflating your pad 1 hour before sleep, and then topping it off right before sleep for optimal comfort. If you are experiencing more deflation than this, that is not normal! Contact us at support@klymit.com and we’ll make sure to fix this for you.
All our pads are tested to sleep comfortably up to 300 lbs. After this point, the pad will still perform, but the individual may have less cushioning effect from the inflation of the air chambers.
For our lightweight ‘Inertia’ pad series, many of the pads have cutouts in them. The cutouts are called loft pockets because they allow your sleeping bag to ‘loft’ into the holes. This ‘loft’ aspect helps increase warmth while decreasing the overall weight of the pad.
KSB stands for Klymit Sleeping Bag. =)
Yes we do. At Klymit we care about our environmental impact and only use responsibly sourced feathers in our down sleeping bags. For more information on the standards for responsibly sourced down, please visit http://responsibledown.org/
Klymit currently offers several different temperature ratings and sizes. All our sleeping bags are tested to be comfortable at the temperature they are rated to. If you will be Summer camping, the KSB 35 is a great choice. Spring and Fall camping will do best with the KSB 20. And Winter campers will most likely want the KSB 0. Our 0- and 20-degree sleeping bags also come in an Extra Large size that provides more shoulder room for an even more comfortable experience.
The best way to determine which sleeping bag is right for you is to take your widest girth measurement around either your shoulders or your waist. The girth on the Large KSB is 60 inches. The girth on the Extra Large KSB is 80.5 inches. People with long arms also tend to prefer the elbow room on the Extra Large KSB sleeping bags.
We recommend storing your KSB Down sleeping bag in a dry location inside a loose storage sack. This will preserve the fluffiness of the down. Klymit sleeping bags should only be stored inside their compression sacks for short periods of time.
We recommend washing a down bag in a front-loading washer. Never use an agitator-style machine as the motion can damage the stitching and feathers. Make sure to wash your sleeping bag on the gentle cycle in cool water with a down specific soap. To dry your down sleeping bag, set your dryer on the no heat setting and check often. If it is too hot you will run the risk of melting the fabric on your sleeping bag. The fluff or tumble setting without heat is the safest way to dry your bag. When the bag is nearly dry, add two or three clean tennis balls or a pair of clean sneakers to the dryer. This will help break up any clumps in the bag and will help to restore the loft. You will know when your bag is fully dry when the musty smell is gone and no clumps of down remain. Make sure your bag is thoroughly dry before placing it in its mesh storage bag.
It is not unusual for a few feathers to come through the tight weave fabric of your KSB down sleeping bag on occasions. If the feathers are not coming from a hole in the fabric or a loose seam and it is only losing a few feathers with each use, that is normal. Your KSB has a down (80%) and feathers (20%) combination fill. The down is all soft and fluffy while the feathers have a stiff stem at the center. This stiff stem can at times make its way through the fabric. If you find more than just a few loose feathers at a time, please let us know and we can make a repair. To make a warranty claim please visit www.klymit.com/warranty.
Our KSB Sleeping bags are water resistant. The outer fabric has a durable water repellant (DWR) treatment to protect the insulation from moisture that can impede thermal performance and add weight. If you need additional protection you can use a waterproofing spray made for outdoor gear. It is important however that your bag is still able to "breathe" and release water vapor as you sleep so that you don't have a moisture buildup inside your bag as you sleep.
The Motion 60 pack has a waist belt that fits waist between 31-46”. The Torso size of the Motion 60 fits people with torso lengths between 19-23”.
IThere are several factors to consider when fitting your new backpack. Here is a comprehensive tutorial for how to adjust the straps correctly so you have the most comfortable experience possible: https://www.backcountry.com/explore/how-to-fit-a-backpack.
Yes! The Splash has a durable 210 Denier waterproof Nylon fabric on the body and an even more durable 420 Denier waterproof Nylon fabric on the bottom.
All Airbeam Frame sheets are built slightly larger than the pocket on purpose. By folding down the top of the frame sheet under the Velcro, it adds a slight curve to the lower part of your back for extra comfort and allows the Airbeam Frame sheet to hold the backpack’s weight better.
The Traverse Hammock is a traditional gathered-end hammock, made to sleep up to 2 people. This hammock requires sleeping diagonally in the hammock to get a flat lay. Our Hammock V pads were designed to help accommodate this style of sleeping.
This is a standard ‘gathered-end’ hammock. Use the included straps to wrap around a strong tree and clip the hammock to the tree strap using the carabiner. Repeat on the other end so your hammock is at a desirable tautness. Enjoy a relaxing experience in your new Traverse Hammock!
The Layflat Hammock is a unique design, with support bars at the head and foot area of the hammock to extend the fabric of the hammock and provide a more stable sleeping experience. No more worrying about becoming a human taco overnight! Our Hammock V pads will work well in this hammock, but it will also support using any of our regular sized sleeping pads as well.
Assemble the poles and insert them into the webbing sleeves at the head and foot of the hammock. Wrap the hammock straps around a strong tree. Feed the strap through one of the stitched loops and secure with the carabiner to the tree strap. Pull the foot strap on the hammock to lift the hammock off the ground. Wrap the hammock strap twice around another strong tree and connect with the carabiner. Pull the handle on the foot strap to level the hammock and enjoy.
Klymit hammocks are put through rigorous testing. The fabric, straps and carabiners are all tested to support up to 1200 pounds.
No, the LWD does not come with a paddle. Most customers use a regular Kayak paddle to help propel their dinghy.
The LWD is designed to provide a solid, inflatable structure to help keep you afloat. Because of the unique design of the LWD, a ‘bend’ can sometimes be observed in the side rail of the dinghy. This is normal and once you sit in the dinghy in the water, this ‘bend’ will straighten out.
We can fix that! The LWD is covered under Klymit’s limited lifetime warranty. Just visit www.klymit.com/warranty to start a warranty claim. A warranty team member will review the claim and send information on the next steps within 48 business hours.
Once you have attached the Rapid Air Pump to your pad’s valve, you are ready to start inflating. You can fill the reservoir of the pump by blowing gently inside. Then roll the top of the reservoir over to trap the air inside. Roll or squeeze down the length of the pump towards your pad, forcing the air into your sleeping pad. Each pump of the Rapid Air Pump is equal to about 18 breaths by mouth.
We currently offer 3 different Rapid Air Pumps and have 4 different valve types. If you have a Flat Valve (like on the Double V pad), you’ll want the pump that is Green (for the Flat Valve). If you have a valve that pushes down and twists to lock, you’ll want the pump that is Blue (for the Push/Pull Valve). If you have one of our newer pads with the Flip Valve, you’ll want the pump for the Flip Valve. If you have one of our pads with a twisting valve, unfortunately, we do not currently make a compatible pump for those pads.
A V-Sheet is a fitted sheet that goes on top of your Klymit sleeping pad. Currently, we offer V Sheets for the regular size Static V, the Static V Luxe and the Double V. The V Sheet helps give you a more comfortable experience (no more sticking to the pad when it’s hot out) and keeps your sleeping pad clean so it will last longer! All V Sheets are machine washable.
Yes, the cover on the Luxe Pillow is removable and machine washable!
It’s both! The Cush can be used flat as a seat cushion or can be folded to turn it into a pillow. It’s a great accessory for camping, ball games or travel.
